Is It Ok?

Arlen Spector rocked the political landscape by switching from the republican party to the democratic party mid election. The 79 yr old PA senator sited his drop in his approval ratings among Republicans as the reason for his party switching.

Not affiliating with either party I guess that’s OK, and from what I understand he was one of the more liberal republicans. Still, if I was one of his constituents I would be a little concerned.

These guys are supposed to believe the things there party stands for, and if the his best reason for switching parties is poll numbers you have to question his resolve on the issues his people have been electing him for. Honestly,

“because your poll numbers are bad suddenly you don’t believe all the things that elephants been whispering in your ear all these years?”

The Republicans as you can imagine are livid. The switch gives the Dems 59 Votes in the U.S. Senate, 1 short of filibuster proof.

Oddly enough eight years ago Senator Spector felt different about party switching.
